White House Tour

Tonight we were really lucky to get a tour of the West Wing of the White House from the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Mike Leavitt. It was great to see the West Wing, where all the action happens. We are so thankful to Secretary Leavitt for taking time out of his busy schedule to give us the tour. It was so hot and humid out tonight that you can probably see the sweat dripping off of us! Here are some pictures of Lindsey and I along with my family and Secretary Leavitt.

Us in the Rose Garden

Here are some pictures of Lindsey and I along with my brother and sister taking questions from the Press!

Some of Lindsey and I in front of the White House.

We think we are so cool with our passes to the White House!
We also went inside the West Wing to see the Oval Office, Cabinet Room, etc but weren't allowed to take pictures in there. It was amazing to walk in the same hallways as so many great men who have lead our country!

Happy One YEAR Anniversary! Staying true to the way I blog... our anniversary was actually over a month ago. Still celebrating:)

We got to celebrate by going on a special date in Georgetown. Justin was so sweet getting be two dozen white roses. I haven't ever gotten white roses before and they were beautiful! Thanks honey, you treat me way better than I could ever deserve. You are the most patient, thoughtful, charismatic man I've ever met and I'm so thankful to have you in my life.

Tag, I'm it!
Tagged by Michelle Morley... like three weeks ago. Opps, better late then never!

Rules: list 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions, and three random facts about yourself. Tag 5 people at the end.

3 Joys

1. JUSTIN Truly the greatest blessing in my life and constantly puts me in a good mood.
2. Being outside and enjoying the fun things around me to see and do.
3. Finding a really good deal.

3 Fears

1. Critters! I hate bugs. Justin sometimes comes home to upside down cups on the floor with bugs under them.
2. Loosing Justin
3. Public speaking. Not just the normal fear, I get blotchy and red all over and people always ask if I'm having an allergic reaction. "Yes, allergic to public speaking!"

3 Goals

1. Figure out a way to see my nieces and nephews more often.
2. Recruit all our friends to the East Coast
3. Get tan this summer despite working a 9 to 5.

3 Obsessions

1. Chocolate chip cookies!
2. Cottage cheese and peas. For all of you gagging right now, don't knock it till you try it. I have converted several roommates to loving this little concoction (including my current roommate:)
3. The magic eraser. It really is MAGICAL! Gets all marks off walls

3 Random Facts

1. I love staying in hotels and wearing their slippers and robes. I don't know why since I have a ton of robes and slippers at home. It's just not the same.
2. I'm kind of OCD when it comes to things being in a formation. Example: Our soap dispenser, tooth brush holder, and cup have to be in a triangle formation or it bugs me... weird I know. Justin jokes that I should have been a quarterback since I love formations so much!
3. I love being scared. I guess that is why I like things like sky diving and repelling or anything else that puts my stomach in my throat.

I tag Taryn, both Jessicas, Cambria, and Andrea.

Our new casa

Ok, so I have been promising my family that is out West and some friends to put up pics of our new place and considering we've lived here now over a month I figured it's time. So for those of you who have been asking... here it is! At first we were so sad to leave our old apartment but we LOVE the new little townhome so much that we haven't really missed it. Out with the old and in with the new. Here are some pics of both.

We DO miss our old view from the 16th floor. Pretty sunsets!

And here is our new place!

We love love love all the beautiful trees. We are still just ten minutes from the city but we feel more secluded with the trees out front. There is even a cute little river out front.

Lake Powell with the Searle Clan

We had a great time in Lake Powell with the Searle family. They all love boating and the outdoors so the week was filled with no stop fun. Lindsey was tearing it up on the water while I was humiliated by my wife and the fact that she is better than me at water sports! Here are some pictures of our trip.

Me riding an Air Chair for the first time!

Repelling down the rocks into the lake. I am scared of heights but my wife is crazy and loves this stuff.

Summer Fun

Well needless to say, it is warming up here! With triple digit temperatures lately, it still hasn't kept us from going out and enjoying DC. There is so much to do out here it's impossible to ever get bored. We've been busy. We just moved to a little townhouse. And between unpacking, and getting settled in we've been going to baseball games, camping, jogging in the city, and taking walks around the monuments. We love all the fun things to do and see here.
